Addiction can be a complex and challenging experience, and it is my goal to support you in your journey toward healing and recovery.
I believe that addiction is not a choice or a moral failing, but rather a response to underlying emotional and psychological pain. As Dr. Gabor Mate (2018) explains, “addiction is a response to distress,” and is often rooted in childhood trauma and adverse life experiences.
I also know that shame and stigma can be significant barriers to seeking help for addiction. Brené Brown (2014) teaches us that shame thrives in secrecy and judgment, and we can heal and grow only through vulnerability and connection.
Here, you will find a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space for you to explore the underlying roots of your addiction and develop new skills and resources for healing and recovery. My approach is grounded in the principles of narrative therapy as well as my own cultural understanding of how humans thrive. Narrative therapy views people as the experts in their own lives and focuses on empowering individuals to rewrite the stories that have been limiting them. (White, 2007). Métis culture reminds me that relationship is the foundation from which we all draw strength.
I believe that every individual has inherent worth and dignity, and am committed to treating all people with respect, empathy, and kindness. I invite you to join me on this journey toward healing and wholeness.
